About

Where ultrasonic sensors give you a cone and a guess, the VL53L0X gives a narrow beam and a real distance: it times the flight of laser pulses and reports the range in mm with ~1 mm resolution and 30 ms update, up to about 2 m (1.2 m in default mode). It works on dark and light targets alike and is immune to ambient light within reason. The GY-530 board regulates 3โ€“5 V down for the sensor and breaks out XSHUT (to set several sensors to different addresses) and the GPIO1 interrupt. Libraries: Adafruit, Pololu, ESP-IDF, MicroPython. Purple PCB, โ‰ˆ 25 ร— 11 mm, headers included.
