The classic 6-DOF IMU breakout on I2C, 3–5 V
The MPU-6050 is the sensor behind countless self-balancing robots and flight controllers: accelerometer (±2 to ±16 g) and gyroscope (±250 to ±2000 °/s) on one die, with a motion processor that can fuse them into orientation data on the chip. The GY-521 board adds a 3.3 V regulator, pull-ups and an auxiliary I2C port (XDA/XCL) for a magnetometer. Libraries for Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi and MicroPython are plentiful. Note: these are the current domestic-production chips – the WHO_AM_I register returns 0x70 instead of 0x68, so a library that strictly checks the ID may need that check relaxed. Headers included.
